Ready for an update?

If you'll noticed, I've changed around the layout of The Shopaholic Maven. I've had a lot of time on my hands as of the second week of October, as I was laid off from my job. It was cool for about the first two days and now I'm raring and ready to go to get this concept up and running.

Keep checking back because I'm hoping to update frequently now that I have the time!

JoAnn Fabric also had a really good sale on fabric as well as patterns, so as I try to get this site up an running please check back for updates on upcoming sewing projects!

So, what is The Shopaholic Maven anyway?
This site started as a concept to kind of play into my addiction to shopping. Originally, it was going to have a lot of content involving sales (akin to extreme couponing) but now that I am currently unemployed it will also extend into affording to look stylish as well as still being able to pay the bills.

Not only was The Shopaholic Maven a way to give in to my own addiction to clothing (among other things) but also a way to get rid of many, many, many of the items contained within my closet that are now piling into my living room, hallway and attic. I currently live in a tiny 1 bedroom apartment in the suburbs of Philadelphia, which essentially means I pay a whole lot of money for an exceptionally tiny living space. In a section titled "Shop the Maven's Closet" many of these gently, and possibly (most likely) unused items will go up for sale directly through this website as well as eBay.

Also detailed on The Shopaholic Maven will be different posts:

• Nailed It!: posts that will show off my current manicure attempts as well as nail porn I wish I was capable of accomplishing. Possibly also showcasing additions to my nail polish collection of over 250 shades (and growing).
• Outfit of the Day: my outfit of the day!
• Pinspired Outfits: My attempts at those awesome, amazing outfits we all drool over on Pinterest (come on, admit it, you know exactly what I'm talking about!)
• The 9-5 Stylist: Although I currently no longer work in the corporate world, who knows what might happen. These posts will show of my attempts at looking cute, sexy and professional all at once!
• Many, many more!

Also, in a selfish way, I am still really jealous of Cher Horowitz's virtual closet from Clueless and this is my poor man's version. "The Maven's Closet" section of the site will detail literally every piece of clothing that I have in my possession.

I'm hoping that this will be an excellent outlet for me. I love to write, I love to shop, and I most definitely love to look and feel great so this seemed like the most logical step! So I might not make a million dollars on this project. I honestly don't intend to make any money! I really just wanted to share my passion with others and (hopefully) get rid of al the stuff that is clogging up my closets (seriously, I could pay for my tuition for nursing school with the amount of Coach sitting in a container at the bottom of my closet)!

Don't you already have your own site, though?
Why, yes, I do! While Kateaboo.com will still be around (and updated), I want the two sites to be quite different in content. Kateaboo.com will deal solely with my personal life, with possible spillage over to The Shopaholic Maven. Personally speaking, I just really felt containing everything on one site might be too overwhelming!

I am always open to suggestions, so suggest away if you have any questions or comments!
